Faith Nachiro From Galanema Village
My name is Faith Nachiro Ndune an 18-year-old girl from from Galanema village, Chonyi in Kilifi South Sub-county. I am the first born in a family of three raised by my grandmother and a single mother who does casual jobs for survival and can barely meet the basic needs for our family.
I completed my KCSE at Bura Girls’ High School in 2024 with a mean grade of B-. Due to financial challenges, I could not get my results since I had a fee balance of Ksh. 33,000. I stayed at home and had lost hope of pursuing higher education.

The facebook story shared and the house Faith and grandma lived in which collapsed and they moved into the makeshift kitchen house
In 2025 our situation became worse when our house collapsed due to heavy rains we moved to a temporary house we had used as a kitchen before my uncle accommodated us in his house for several months. The TUmaini Na Uwezo Initiative got to know about my case through a social media post by a well-wisher and they mobilized funds and helped us build a new 2-bedroom semi-permanent iron sheet roofed house. My grandmother and I are forever grateful for their kindness.
In the year 2026 I was helped again by the Tumaini Na Uwezo (TUNU) initiative apply for a course and was accepted to Kenya Medical Training College, Port Reitz campus to pursue Diploma in Physiotherapy.

Rebuilding a new house for faith and grandma
They went a step further and fundraised for me to get the basic requirements and fees and I joined the college in April 2026. I am deeply grateful for their help and I am committed to complete my training so that I can also support others in future. I am happy the TUNU initiative has given me hope to pursue my dreams.
I also haven’t managed to get all essential requirements such as uniforms. I am currently using the old version of uniforms donated by a former student and the colour was changed to greyish blue. I also haven’t managed to get any physiotherapy equipment required.

Donation of items for faith to go to college
Your support will enable me to finish school and give back to the community will be appreciated. Just as well-wishers gave my family a new home after ours collapsed, I hope to restore hope and movement to patients through Physiotherapy.
